FAQ

How do I check the status of a server?+

Simply go to the home page, choose the server's edition and type in the exact same address you use in-game to connect to the server and press the green Server statusPress the server status button on the home page, not here. button.

How do I stop my server's status from being shown here?+

Set enable-status to false in your server.properties file and restart your server. Do note that with the status disabled, real Minecraft clients will also lose your server MOTD in the in-game server list, but they'll still be able to connect. If your server software has no server.properties file, ask its developer how to disable status responses.

How do I stop my server's plugins from being shown here?+

Set enable-query to false in your server.properties file and restart your server. If your server software has no server.properties file, ask its developer how to disable query responses.

How do you know whether or not a server is blacklisted?+

I scrape various sources and APIs from the internet, such as sudofox's Mojang blocklist, check them against Mojang's public blacklist hashes and save a list of my own. Do note that I don't update this list very often, so a server's blacklist status may be out of date. Also, Mojang only publishes SHA-1 hashes of the blacklisted servers, and not all of those hashes are cracked.

Why a server that I know is online shows as offline here?+

The server's status may be disabled or its firewall/security may be blocking connections from my server. Double check the address and port and try again.

Why is there no ping or latency in the results?+

Any ping I could show is measured from my server's hosting location and not from your computer so the number would be irrelevant to you and a bit misleading to display. If you want to know your real ping, open your Minecraft client and add the server to the server list.

Why was I banned from using the API?+

Usually it's because your IP address was spamming the API. You can email me at contact@mcquery.net with the the banned IP along with an explanation and I'll see what I can do for you. Do note that I don't make any kind of guarantees beforehand, your IP may or may not be unbanned.

What does "cached" mean?+

It means that you're seeing results from a recent check instead of a brand new one. If you want the latest, wait a few seconds and try again.

For how long do you cache the results?+

Currently results are individually cached only for 5 seconds. This is mostly to prevent spamming a server with pings every second or so.
